Supply of Gensets, UPS and Weighing Scales to Class C offices

RO Visakhapatnam has placed purchase orders in r/o supply of 2KVA Gensets of Honda make, 1KVA UPS of Numeric make and 10KG / 50KG Weighing Scales of Eassee Teroka make directly to the Class C offices towards Computerisation of Class C offices. The SPMs here by instructed to take delivery of the same from the supplied firms.

Guideliness for the 7.5KVA /15KVA /10KVA Generators supplied to Post Offices

The guidelines supplied by the Executive Engineer(Electrical), Mumbai are furnished here under for information and taking necessary action towards operation and maintenance of the Generators installed at your offices properly.

1. Check the diesel level in the tank. It should not be below the red line mark.
2. Check the lube oil level. It should not decrease below the red line.
3. Position of battery charging should be checked at regular intervals from the battery charger indication lamp. Also, check the power supply to battery charger.
4. Keep the change over switch in OFF position.
5. Load on the DG set shall not be more that 6KW for 7.5KVA/8KW for 10KVA/12W for 15KVA Genset respectively.
6. The nearby area of the Genset should remain clear so that fresh air may be available to DG set & the Exhaust may be thrown out.
7. Prior permission should be taken from this office towards purchase of oil for the Gensets.
8. LOG Book should be maintained for the consumption of the oil at your level.

Maintenance of backup of the Meghdoot / SBLAN / NREGS

1.  Recently this office has provided External Hard Disks to HOs / MDG and LSGSOs & Pendrives for Class A & B Offices for backup purpose. As such you are here by instructed to preserve the backup daily in the device, which was supplied to your office concerned without fail. 

2.   Please don’t misuse the device given to your office at any cost.

3.  Whenever broadband is down at your office, please run the Account MIS for generation of DET file. Later the file must be copied into the device given to your office and the same may be transmitted to central server from its HO on the same day itself without fail.

Removal of ceiling of maximum balance to be retained in POSB A/cs

Directorate vide SB order No: 20/2011 No. F.No.113-23/2005-SB dtd 27-09-2011 has informed that the maximum ceiling limit for the POSB A/cs is removed and made some amendments. the major benefits of this amendements are as follows.

i) From 1.10.2011, there will be no limit for retaining balance in single as well as joint savings account.

(ii) A depositor or depositor(s) can deposit any amount into single as well as joint savings account.

(iii) Maturity value of any savings instrument can be credited into savings account of the depositor standing in the same post office irrespective of the balance in the account.

(i) Any cheque either issued by Postmaster or any other authority irrespective of any amount can be credited into post office savings account irrespective of the balance in the account.

(ii) From the Financial year 2011-12, Interest income of Rs.3500/- in the case of single account and Rs.7000/- in case of Joint account will be exempted from Income Tax. (Section 10(15) (i) of Income Tax Act, 1961 amended vide Notification No. 32/2010 {F.No. 173/13/2011-IT A.I}/S.O.1296(E) dated 03.06.2011)

(iii) It is the duty of the depositor(s) to show the interest income earned from Post Office Savings Account(s) beyond the limit prescribed above in the Income Tax return and pay due Income Tax.
